The Regent Hotel, Chongqing, is a luxurious hotel that combines modern elegance with traditional Chinese design. Throughout the property, materials such as ceramic, textile, metal and lacquer reflect Chongqing’s cultural heritage. Located in the Jiangbei District, the Regent Hotel is well connected to Chongqing’s metro system, making it a convenient base for exploring the city.
My room was spacious and thoughtfully designed, blending classic and contemporary elements. Warm wood furnishings, a red and amber carpet and gold lattice screens blended well with crisp white linens and the sunlit marble bathroom. Floor-to-ceiling windows allowed natural light to fill the space during the day.
The standalone bathtub was positioned to offer views of the city, particularly striking at night when the skyline lit up with vibrant lights and colourful lanterns. The view extended across the city, with towering skyscrapers and Hongyadong’s iconic illuminated stilted buildings glowing against the dark sky.
In the morning, the breakfast buffet was a vast spread with a diverse selection of Chinese and Western dishes, along with fresh fruits. I enjoyed trying local Chongqing specialities like congee with youtiao (rice porridge with fried dough) and jian dui (sesame-coated glutinous rice balls).
A highlight was sampling the hotel’s own unique hotpot, a creative take on the traditional Chongqing hotpot. Served in the restaurant, it featured fruits and sweet delicacies beautifully arranged to mimic the typical presentation and is as much a visual treat as it is delicious.
For relaxation, the spa features four treatment rooms, a gym, and a 25-metre indoor pool. To end the day, I savoured a cocktail at the River Terrace as the sun set, offering a view of the city lights.
The staff provided exceptional hospitality, combining warmth with careful attention to those all-important details. From personalised greetings to anticipating my every need, they ensured every aspect of my stay was unforgettable. The Regent Hotel Chongqing is a must-stay destination for any traveller.
