Arriving at one of Palma’s Puro Hotels feels like stepping into a cherished friend’s elegant home, where every detail has been carefully curated to evoke a sense of serenity. These boutique hotels, each with their own distinct character, masterfully balance high-end luxury with a welcoming atmosphere. From the unhurried welcome drink to the seamless check-in process, the experience is designed to put guests at ease, setting the stage for unwinding completely before embracing the energy of Palma waiting just beyond the doorstep.

Puro Hotels: Oasis Urbano

This flagship property radiates a boho-chic vibe that feels effortlessly cosmopolitan while staying rooted in local charm. The courtyard, with its inviting seating, lush greenery and soft, ambient lighting, quickly became a favourite retreat for me before heading out to explore the vibrant neighbourhood. A standout was dinner at Beatnik Restaurant & Bar, where Mediterranean cuisine meets global influences, from colourful Mexican mini tacos to an inventive tuna sashimi flatbread – a menu as lively as the hotel’s eclectic energy. An artfully crafted cocktail on the rooftop terrace, with stunning views over Palma’s old town, provided a magical finale to a memorable evening.

Puro Hotels: Grand Hotel

Just a short stroll away, the Puro Grand Hotel is a 15th-century architectural masterpiece redesigned to blend historic charm with modern aesthetics. Earthy Mediterranean tones, contemporary art and luxurious finishes harmonise with Mallorcan heritage, creating an elegant yet relaxed island ambience. A visit to the spa’s steam rooms offset the tensions after a long day of exploration, while the understated luxury of the tranquil lounges provided an ideal setting for quiet moments of rejuvenation.

Puro Hotels: Palacio Can Marqués

Palacio Can Marqués occupies an 18th-century palace reimagined with a modern twist. Graceful, historic interiors adorned with locally inspired art pieces create a grounded, authentic sophistication. The rooms are each uniquely themed and styled to reflect the blend of old-world appeal and contemporary style that defines the hotel, while thoughtful touches like SeaSkin Life products add an extra dose of pampering. I loved the captivating courtyard, lush with vines and foliage, creating a secluded escape for al fresco dining. The rooftop lounge terrace and bar offers another serene space with sensational views of the cathedral and city of Palma – perfect for winding down with a cocktail as the city lights come alive. Dining at The Merchants, with its refined yet approachable British-style steak and seafood menu complemented by well-crafted cocktails, felt warm and intimate.

Purobeach

My time at Purobeach, one of Palma’s most renowned beach clubs, was truly memorable. This year marks its 20th anniversary, and it continues to set the standard for elevated seaside relaxation, seamlessly blending coastal vibes with refined amenities. I was especially impressed by the panoramic views, chic lounge areas and wellness-focused facilities that make it a haven for meditation, massages and yoga. The culinary experience at Purobeach reflects a commitment to quality, featuring a Mediterranean-inspired menu that highlights seasonal ingredients. Fresh seafood, colourful salads and handcrafted cocktails make for wonderful indulgences during long, leisurely afternoons by the sea.
