Deborah’s paintings are abstract, in the sense that she extrapolates and absorbs what is around her that commands her attention. She doesn’t have any preconceived ideas. The significant and compelling complexities of nature, combined with the geological and ecological effects on us as a species, are an intrinsic aspect of her painting. For Deborah, to deconstruct these complexities into a more simplified rendition is important, in order to leave some space for the viewer to interpret what they see in her paintings.
Deborah’s work is available at The Boathouse Gallery in Kinsale, Castlemartyr Gallery in Cork, Caffreys Gallery in Ballina and on giftedfromireland.com. Prints are also available from Westport Designs in Westport, Achill Top Drawer and Pantry, The Sheep and Wool Centre, Leenane and on the artist’s website.
